Most indoor doormats are printed on thin 15mm matting with a PVC or plastic backing, meaning that they may be able to be hard to recycle. We challenged ourselves to making printed designs on woven backed mats that are 100% plastic free. Our Home is Our Happy Place Eco Friendly Doormat is biodegradable and known to be excellent composting material at the end of its life. The body of the mat is made from coconut fibre or “coir”, and the edges closed with natural latex to avoid fraying, giving it a very smart finish. The ink used is water soluble for minimal environmental affect. Naturally Beautiful Our Home is Our Happy Place Eco Friendly Doormat is a 100% natural product made from coconut fibre. As a result, every mat has its own character and it’s impossible to guarantee complete uniformity as colour is dependent on the coconut harvest (the background is undyed). On occasion you may find a hard piece of coconut in the pile (this is the pith). We do try to remove them but from time to time miss one, (you’ll be able to easily trim it off with sharp scissors, pulling it out will leave a hole). All coir mats will shed a little at first, but will settle in a few days of use. Brush lightly to remove, or vacuum with the upholstery attachment on a low setting. Hitting the mat too hard to remove fibres will cause the design to fade. You are selecting an eco friendly doormat that’s a positive choice for the environment and your doorway, these variations are simply part of its natural splendour. Product Use Our indoor doormat should be used as such. If you do choose to place the mat outside, make sure it’s in a covered porch. This biodegradable mat will look perfect in many different styles of home.
