I’m a mum and I created the first Tidy Books bookcase for my daughter back in 2004 in my violin workshop. Ever since, I’ve been designing book shelves and storage for kids which foster their sense of independence, because… Kids Know Best! My original bookcases create an environment for kids to pick and choose their own books and foster their love of books from an early age. We immediately changed to water lacquer, a safer alternative. The usage of water lacquer is a part of our commitment to design and make products that look great and are Secure for you and the planet. Non toxic water lacquer finish (low VOCs ) My background as a violin maker means I am passionate about how products are made. We could have coated them with a solvent based acrylic lacquer, but I made an ethical choice. Water lacquer shows the natural imperfections in the wood, and is better for the planet and your kids.
